The mission of The Griffin is to provide a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for our clients enabling healing from addiction. Our goal is to provide Recovery Residence and non-clinical support for People who are in the highest risk moment in the addiction recovery process. The Griffin takes pride in the individuality that sets us apart in the services we provide to our clients, allowing our clients to transform their desired life free of addiction. We provide Recovery Residence services and Recovery Coaching programs for adults.

The Mission is to provide 100 recovery residence beds throughout Utah by 2027 for both men and women. The goal is to be in proximity to most popular programing sites making it easier to attend outpatient services while Staying in our recovery residence, and to also help our community partners maintain their clients who want to stay with them from inpatient to outpatient.

The Griffin Recovery Residence develops individualized programs where all those struggling with the disease of addiction can receive safe housing, peer support in an environment designed for regaining autonomy and empowering them with the ability to succeed in this stage of the recovery process. It is our goal to educate our clients on how to live a self-sustaining life by providing Recovery Coaching services teaching how to live a balanced and healthy life, long-term. Free of the stigma and supported by their loved ones and our community, our secondary goal is to focus on our client’s ability for re-unification with their family and fostering self-reliance that will last long-term. The Griffin offers a dynamic and robust program that affords individuals the opportunity to do the necessary work in a safe and structured environment.                                        

The Griffin philosophy is that trust is the greatest human motivator, and that each individual has the right to be treated with respect and dignity.  Our relationship focused approach focuses on the belief that those struggling with substance use and mental health disorders especially need the opportunity to prove first to themselves and then to others that they can, in fact, live a healthy, self-supporting, and self-reliant lifestyle. 


Who we serve

The Griffin serves male and female adults 18 & older who are overcoming substance use & limited mental health challenges. We serve adult males and females transitioning from inpatient substance use treatment programs and case by case basis situations. We serve the Greater Salt Lake area, Utah County, Davis County and weber county, Utah.

(Female housing is planned to open late 2026)

Exclusionary criteria:

The Griffin has exclusionary criteria that we screen for before considering accepting an applicant. These criteria include:

1.Diagnosed with a mental disorder without a Substance Use Disorder.

2.Aggravated or excessively violent charges and sex offenses typically excluded from participation.

3.Currently using illegal drugs and or alcohol.

4.Recently discharged from another Recovery residence because of using illegal drugs or substances . Applicants will have had to detox at a detox facility and have a clinical referral and or an assessment by a licensed therapist deeming sober living proper placement and the proper level of care.

5.Sex offenders.

6.Individuals who sexually act out/perpetuates in any form.

7.Individuals who commit a violent act upon themselves or others.

8.If staff deems residents as unsafe.

9.Medical emergencies and an individual’s life is in danger after an incident and must be hospitalized.

10. The Griffin is not prepared to work with adult clients that have major psychiatric disorders (e.g., psychotic disorders) or those who are unable to care for themselves independently.

The Mission

Services Provided

The Griffin  provides Recovery Residence for Adults struggling with diagnosed substance use disorders. Upon initial assessment by a licensed professional, clients are placed within the program at the level that clinically necessitates.

Recovery Resident Program:  Provides Recovery Residence Sunday Through Saturday, 24 hours a day, structured living and periodic substance use testing. We Charge $800 per month plus a Non-refundable $200 deposit. Some pricing may vary when Concerning contracted parties with specific agreements in place. Recovery Coaching is included with recovery residence.

Certified Recovery Coaches: facilitate groups for the residents that allow Peer Support and teach various skills with the focus of  self-reliance and access to recovery resources. Residents have the option for one on one coaching services to help them realize their own strengths and understand resources available to them.


Eligibility requirements:

The Griffin has eligibility criteria that we screen for before considering accepting an applicant. These criteria include:

  1. Has had an initial assessment by a licensed professional, and are placed within the program at the level that clinically necessitates.

  2. Have enrolled or are enrolling in a Outpatient treatment program or continuing therapy or some kind of recovery program if completed outpatient treatment.

  3. Completed a Residential Treatment Program or

  4. Graduate of Salt Lake County Jail’s Correctional Addiction Treatment Services.

  5. Participant in Drug Court Programs.

  6. Participated in the VOA Journey Program.

  7. An assessment and or Referral from behavioral health services.

  8. Compliant with treatment expectations.

  9. A desire to participate and engage in the recovery process.

  10. Be at least 18 years of age.

  11. Must have a Substance Use Disorder.

  12. Ability to take care of oneself and be self reliant.
